When Joanne “Jo” Rowling famously decided to publish her Harry Potter series under the initials ‘J.K’, my first thought was it seemed quite old school move. I mean, it was 1997 when Potter was created, not 1846. Are we still in a time where we need to hide the frightful sight of a woman’s name in order to avoid prejudice? J.K Rowling’s publishers decided this was a good idea in order to attract more young male readers. If these audiences would not have read the books because of a woman’s name on the cover (“Joanne?
